When to refer...

Neuropsychological Testing:

If your patient demonstrates...

  • Subjective/reported changes in memory, attention, "brain fog", word finding ability, or other language functioning

  • History of several strokes or TIAs

  • Has several vascular risk factors and is aged 65+ (hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, obesity, etc.)

  • History of cancer treatment

  • History of significant medical condition: stroke, OSA, MS, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, HIV

  • Patient is requiring comprehensive evaluation prior to major surgery or for post-surgical status

Psychological Testing:

If your patient demonstrates...

  • A complicated history

  • Need for a more comprehensive review of symptoms and behavioral patterns to clarify diagnosis

Please do not refer if active psychosis or suicidal/homicidal ideation is suspected. Send to nearest Emergency Department, as seen as appropriate, for crisis intervention and safety planning.
